     Elihu "Elmer" Darby was born on 26 May 1865 at McHenry, Illinois.4 He was the son of Samuel Darby and Sarah M Reed.3 Elihu "Elmer" Darby was also known as Elisha Darby.5 He was recorded in census of his parents, Samuel Darby and Sarah M Reed, on 11 August 1870 at Vernon, Lake County, Illinois.5 He was recorded in census of his parents parents on 11 June 1880 at Vernon, Lake County, Illinois.6 Elihu "Elmer" Darby married Louisa Claire Raab, daughter of Erwin Raab and Eva Barbara Ebert, on 10 December 1888 at Cook County, Illinois.1 Elmer and Louisa appeared on the census of 27 June 1900 in Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois.1 They also appeared on the census of 29 April 1910 in Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois.7 Elihu "Elmer" Darby died on 7 October 1918 at Belvidere, Boone County, Illinois, at age 53; From Elihu's obituary: Elihu Darby Dies Of Pneumonia - Expired This Afternoon At The Family Home On West Lincoln Avenue. Elihu Darby passed away this afternoon shortly before 2 o'clock, at his home, 729 West Lincoln avenue after a sicness since Sunday night, Sept. 28, with pneumonia and heart trouble. His age was about 50 years. He leaves his wife: son, Leslie, at home, two sons, Ebert and Ralph, both soldiers in the U.S. service, the former now at Long Island City, and the latter at Camp Grant, and an only daughter, Miss Elsie, also at home. There are several sisters and brothers living elsewhere. No arrangements for the funeral have been made. Mr. Darby had lived in Belvidere for many years and was hightly esteemed. To the family will be given much sympathy.8,2
