Amalie "Mollie" Auguste Albrecht was born on 22 April 1874 at Flatow, Krajence, Koszalin, West Prussia.3 She was the daughter of Carl Wilhelm Albrecht and Louise Augusta Justine Jeanette Gomoll.2 She immigrated with her mother, brothers and sisters circa 1880 to Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, her father having come earlier (sometime in the 1870's). The 1900 U.S. Census lists the number of years she had been in the United States as 20 years. Her year of immigration is listed as 1879 in the 1910 U.S. Census. Mollie's son Norm often said that his mother told him that they came through New York (which he called Ellis Island) and that the immigration service quarantined them until a relative (supposedly a Studebaker or a Wannamaker?) came to vouch for them.
