     Charles Victor Burke was born on 12 March 1882 at Kent, King County, Washington.1,2 He was the son of Herman Daniel Burke and Sarah Eugenia Jones.1 Charles was in the household during the territorial census of Herman and Sarah Burke in 1883 at at King County, Washington Territory; Page 6, White River, 44,29.3 He was in the household during the territorial census of Herman Daniel Burke in April 1885 at Titusville, King County, Washington Territory.4 He was also in the household during the census of Herman Daniel Burke on 30 July 1887 at at Kent, King County, Washington Territory; Recorded by Luke McRedward.5 Vic was in the household during the census of his mother and her second husband Alfred Baker in 1892 at Kent, King County, Washington.6 Charles Victor Burke is listed in the widows pension declaration of Sarah Eugenia Jones on 18 December 1893; In a declaration for pension of children under sixteen years of age, Sarah provided proof of the names of her and Herman Burke's children and of Herman's date of death. In that declaration, she states that "Eugenia S. Baker, resident of Kent, age 48 years is the legal guardian of Eugene Burke, Willie Burke, Victor Burke, James Burke, and Mabel Burke, that they are the legitimate children of Herman Burke who Enlisted under the name of Herman Burke at Indianapolis on ----- Certif No 265092 in the war of the Rebellion who died(3) Sept 20, 1888".7 He witnessed the census of his mother on 1 June 1900 at Meeker Precinct, King County, Washington; Record very difficult to read...8 Charles Victor Burke, then a graduate student at Stanford University, Co-authored the "Fishes From Bering And Kamchatka" with world famous icthyologist Dr. Charles Henry Gilbert in 1912.9 He married Georgina "Aunt Georgie" Breckenridge Spooner, daughter of Alden Ernst Spooner and Fannie L. Pinney, in 1912 or 1913.9 He was recorded on a World War I Draft Registration Card, on 12 September 1918 at Santa Clara County, California; "Vic's" WWI Draft Regstration Card lists him as a Professor at Stanford University. His wife was Georgina Spooner Burke and they lived at 603 Litton in Palo Alto.2 "Vic" was residing in the household during census of his mother on 17 January 1920 at Palo Alto, Santa Clara County, California.10 Vic and Georgie appeared on the census of 16 April 1930 in Pullman, Whitman County, Washington.11 "Vic" was selected editor of bacteriological terms for the 1932 edition of Webster's International Dictionary in 1932.12 Charles Victor Burke obtained his BS and Ph.D. degrees at Stanford University. At Stanford, he studied Icthyology and co-authoring with C.H. Gilbert at least one book "Fishes from the Bering Sea and Kamchatka (1912). He obtained the equivalent of a second Ph.D. at Columbia University. The latter degree involved bacteriology and immunology under Hans Zinsser, a noted pioneer in bacteriogist. Vic, as he was known in the family, briefly was an Assistant Professor of Bacteriology at Stanford Medical School and utimately became Chairman of the Department of Bacteriology at Washington State University at Pullman untill his retirment.12 They also appeared on the census of 5 April 1940 in Pullman; This census included a nephew, Graham McConnell age 25 born in Minnisota.13 "Voctpr Burke was recorded on a World War II Draft Registration Card, 1942 at Pullman, Whitman County, Washington.14 Uncle "Vic" died on 7 October 1958 at San Jose, Santa Clara County, California, at age 76.15

Cook and Son, 245 Broadway, New York City. on 21 April 1882 at San Marcos, Texas.1 She and Georgina "Aunt Georgie" Breckenridge Spooner were traveling companions on Georgina's trip to Europe in 1908; Isabell and Georgina's passport applictions submitted the same day, with the same person providing Identification.      Bartle Trott Harvey was born in November 1882 at Arkansas.1,3 He appeared on the census of 16 April 1910 in Ward 3, North Medford, Jackson County, Oregon.4 He married Larua M. Kinner, daughter of John Kinner and Elizabeth Almeda Field, circa 1915 at Colorado?5 Bartle Trott Harvey Late in 1916, Harvey, by then separated from the Entomological Service, Obtained a position at the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro and later became an Engles Teacher.6 He died in July 1964 at Dade County, Florida, at age 81.7 William Edmonston and B.T. Harvey both worked for the Buearu of Entomology in Oregon. At some point, "Willie's" wife, Laura Kinner ran off and appearently married B.T. That relationship appearently did not last long and Laura settled in the Denver area with B.T. and her son, Donald. Bio: Bartle Trott Harvey was born November i, 1882, in Fayetteville, Ark., the son of Francis Le Roy Harvey, B.S. Iowa State College '72, M.S. His father was professor of mathematics at Humboldt College, Iowa, in 1874, professor of chemistry and natural history at the University of Arkansas from 1875 to 1885, and professor of biology at the University of Maine from 1887 to 1900; he has written many scientific articles, discovered about fifty forms new to science in fossil plants, flowering plants, fungi, algae and insects, and there are six plant forms and one insect form named after him. He is the grand son of Daniel Harvey and Arminda (Wilkins) Harvey, daughter of William Wilkins. His mother's parents were Ransom Bartle, a descendant of Colonel Peter Bulkeley, founder of Concord, Mass., of Joseph Loomis, founder of Windsor, Conn., and the Bacons of Middletown, Conn., and Martha (Newkirk) Bartle, a descendant of the Von Nieuenkirchs of Holland and the Stuarts of Scotland. He has two brothers : Le Roy Harris Harvey, M.S. University of Maine '01 and Ph.D. University of Chicago '05, and Willis Lake Harvey, B.S. University of Maine; and two sisters : Florence Evelyn Harvey, a special student three years at the University of Maine and a graduate of the Boston Children's Hospital, and Ruth Josephine Harvey. He was prepared at the Orono High School and in 1905 was graduated with the degree of B.S. from the University of Maine, where he also did special work in diseases of trees. At college he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. Before entering the Yale Forest School he was engaged for some time in tree trimming and landscape gardening, worked in woods, mills, followed surveying, mapping and estimating of timber, and collected and sold insects and plants. He is unmarried. Harvey was appointed entomological assistant in the United States Bureau of Entomology, Portland, Ore., on August 28, 1912. He was at different times forester of the Great Northern Paper Company of Bangor, Maine, forest assistant in the United States Forest Service, salesman for the Cree Publishing Company, Seattle, Wash., and for the Tunnison Map Company of Chicago, 111. He has been deputy forest fire warden, deputy forest fish and game warden and licensed guide of the State of Maine and special deputy sheriff of Multnomah County, Portland, Ore. GRADUATES CLASS OF 1907 159 He writes: "My collections were chiefly of fungi, mosses, dragon flies and spring tails. The ranges of certain species were extended and new species in fungi and spring tails were discovered. Made four expeditions on marine biological collecting trips along the coast of Maine for the state." He has contributed a collection of the woods of Maine, also minerals, animals, birds, insects, tree diseases, etc., to the museum of the University of Maine. He is a member of the Congregational church. In politics he has no party choice, but believes in the right man for the right place. He also believes in equal suffrage. He is a representative of the United Press Syndicate and a member of the Maine Forestry Association, the American Forestry Association, the National League for Medical Freedom and the Maine State Hunters Association. He has written articles on forestry for the Bangor (Maine) Daily Commercial and Morning Oregonian, Portland, Ore. In 1912 he made contributions to the list of dialect expressions in the annual publication of the American Dialect Society."2
