     Whetenhall Tilghman was born on 25 July 1576 at Kent, England. He was the son of William Tilghman and Susan Whentenhall. Whetenhall Tilghman married Ellen Renching, daughter of Richard Renching and Susan Honywod, before 1606 at Kent, England.1,2 In 1617, Whentenhall Tilghman "Petitioned the Committee for Compounding Royalists' estates, stating that, in 1606, he had purchased of Edward Neville, Lord Abergavenny, for £120, an annuity of £20 on Rotherfield Manor, Sussex, and that the annuity is now in arrears throught the sequestration of the manor. In 1652, the Committee decided that he must try his title at law with Lord Abergavenny (Cal. Com. for Compounding, p. 872)."3 He died in 1652 at Rappahannock County, Virginia.

     Henry Adams, the 2nd great grand father of President John Adams, "was appointed an executor of his father's will, dated 19 Mar. 1603/4; was mentioned 9 May 1609 as an executor of the will of his brother John Adams; and was married to Edith Squire, 19 Oct. 1609, in the adjoining parish of Charlton Mackrell; but his residence continued for several years in his native ancestral parish of Barton St. David, as the transcript of it register for 1612 shows the baptism of his second son Thomas Adams in that year. As a resident of the same parish he signed a bond as surety on a marriage license in 1614. A few years later, certainly before 1622, he moved to the adjoining parish of Kingweston, Co. Somerset, where his seventh child,John Adams, and his ninth and younbgest child, Edward Adams, were baptized respectively in 1622 and 1629, as recorded in the transcripts of the registers of that parish preserved for those years."3 Henry Adams was born circa 1583 at Barton St. David, Somersetshire, England.4 He was the son of John Adams and Agnes Stone.2 Henry Adams married Edith Squire, daughter of Henry Squire, on 19 October 1609 at Barton St. David, England.4 Henry Adams and Edith Squire immigrated circa 1638 to Braintree, Suffolk County, Massachusetts; "The prior removal to New England of many acquaintances of Henry Adams, including even his wif's sister, Ann (Squire) Purchase, may have been a strong factor in his emigration" - "The year of emigration is fixed by a deposition in 1656 by his son John Adams who stated that he had known a certain field in Cambridge since 1639.3" Henry Adams was recorded in a deed "Granted by the town of Boston a lot of forty acres at Mount Wollaston (Baintree, now Quincy) for a family of ten heads, conditional on payment of a charge of 3s. per acre." - "The 'ten heads' were obviously himself, his wife Edith, his sons Henry, Thomas, Samuel, Peter, John, Joseph and Edward, and his daughter Ursula; i.e., all his family except his third son Jonathan Adams who remained in England a dozen years longer." on 24 February 1639/40 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.3 He died on 6 October 1646 at Braintree, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.1 He was buried on 8 October 1646.

     Abigail Taylor was born in 1585 in Kent, England.2 She was the daughter of Rev Francis Taylor.2 The Reverend Francis Taylor was Vickar of Goldalming in Surrey, England.3 She married Oswald Tilghman, son of William Tilghman and Susan Whentenhall, on 13 January 1612 in Snodland, Kent; London: - Calendar of Marriage Licence Allegations, 1587-1648, Book 4.1,4 Abigail Taylor died on 20 June 1621 in St Mary Abchurch, City of London; There is confusion over the birth of Richard Tilghman and the death of his mother, Abigail Taylor. She is rcorded as having been buried in Jun of 1621. Richard was suposed to have born in September of 1626. Oswalde married Elizabeth Packnam in Nov of 1626 not long after Richard's reported birth.1,2,5

Due fore the transportation of fourteen persons (named below).

........etc, etc, John chew, 1622; John Chew, 1623."5 He was a Burgess between 1642 and 1644 in York County.3 He married Rachel (?) in 1651; In 1651 John Chew "executed a deed (recorded in York County) in view of his intended marriage with Mrs. Rachel Constable."6 John Chew died before 1668 in York County.1

He was transported to the virginia colony by Lieutenant Albiano Lupo who claimed him as a headright After the death of Albio Lupo, he patented 350 acres in the Corporation of Elizabeth City on 1 Sept. 1624.3,4 He married Anne (?) before 1630 in Elizabeth City, Virginia.5 John Slaughter patented 200 acres of land <30 May 1635> on the "westermost branch of Elizabeth River.6" He was granted or patented 700 acres on the Nansemond River in the Upper County of New Norfold <10 March 1637/38>.3 He added 350 acres to his land holdings by two patents, 3 Nov. 1647 and 5 July 1653, on the Nansemond River.3

     Although there is no definitive proof, John Upton patented land in 1635 for the transportation of, among others, William Underwood. Justinian Cooper also recieved 1050 acres for the transportation of 20 people including William Underwood in 1636. In addition, his son and grandson were both named William.2 William? Underwood was born in 1606 at Kent, England.3 He was christened on 19 April 1612 at St. Stephen, Walbrook, London, Middlesex, England.3 He married Margaret Mason, daughter of John Mason, circa 1621 at Rappahannock County, Virginia.4 William? Underwood married Margaret (?) before 1630.5 William? Underwood married Margaret Roberts on 3 January 1632 at St. Giles, Cripplegate, London, England.6 William? Underwood died in 1637 at London, England.7 He died circa 1638 in County Middlesex, England?.8

     Lt Henry Adams was born in 1610. He was the son of Henry Adams and Edith Squire. He immigrated with his parents circa 1638 at Braintree, Suffolk County, Massachusetts; "The prior removal to New England of many acquaintances of Henry Adams, including even his wif's sister, Ann (Squire) Purchase, may have been a strong factor in his emigration" - "The year of emigration is fixed by a deposition in 1656 by his son John Adams who stated that he had known a certain field in Cambridge since 1639.1" Lt Henry Adams married Elizabeth Paine, daughter of Moses Paine Esq, in 1643 at Massachusetts.2,3 Lt Henry Adams died on 21 February 1676 at Medfield, Massachusetts; Henry was killed by Indians while standing in his dooway" in the second year of the war". (King Philip's War.)2 Lt. Henry Adams was the first Town Clerk of Braintree, also Medfield, was the Representative of the town in the General Court for the years 1659; '65; '74 and '75. He was lieutenant of the Medfield military company, which fought against the Indians in 1675-76.

     Christopher Reynolds was born circa 1611 at Gravesend, England. He was the son of George Reynolds.2 Christopher Reynolds immigrated to Virginia in 1622; He sailed aboard the John and Francis.1,3 Hewas included in the Muster of 1623/24 in Warwick Squeake, Isle of Wight County, Virginia; Muster.1 Christopher Reynolds is listed in the muster of 7 February 1624 for Warrascoyack Plantation, Virginia.3 He appeared on the census of 1624/25 in Warwick Squeake, Isle of Wight County, Virginia; Headed the list of Mr. Edward Bennett's men there.1 He appeared on the census of 7 February 1625; "The Muster Of The Inhabitants At Wariscoyack, Taken The 7TH of February, 1625."4 Deposed in the General Court "that he did see and read Peter Collins indentures and that by the indentures he was to serve Mr. bennett four years." on 13 March 1625/26.1 He was patented 450 acres of land bounded with a back creek running Ewd. behind the Pagan shore some 3 mi. upwards, the land lying on the So. side of the Cr. and an old Indian field belonging to the land... in 1636 at Warrascoyack, Virginia.3 He was granted or patented 450 acres in Warrisquick County bounded with a back creek and running eastward behind the Pagan Shore some three miles upward. A patent granted to John Mungoe, 21 Oct. 1684, refers to 100 acres on the south east side of Hutchinson's Creek which Robert Sabine sold to Christopher Reynolds, 21 Dec 1634, and which he in turn sold to Peter Hull, 1 may 1639.1 He married Elizabeth (?)5 Christopher Reynolds died in November 1657 at Isle of Wight County, Virginia.6 Descendancy from this Christopher Reynolds is complex and debatable.      Col Thomas Ringgold was born circa 1612 in Elizabeth City, Virginia.1 He married Mrs Christian Hill circa 1650.2 Col Thomas Ringgold immigrated in 1650 to Kent County, Maryland.3 On D he gave to his sons, James and John Ringgold, "the one-half of my land called Huntingfield, which is in estimation twelve hundred acres, lying on the east side of Chesapeak Bay."2 He died after 1672 at Kent County, Maryland.1

He was chosen chief Sergeant of the military company in 1659, but the County Court refused to confirm him on accout of his religious views. He was confirmed in april, 1660 upon solemnly agreening not to disseminate his principles or notions contrary to what the church doth conffessedly own and practice. He was chosen Ensign in 1678, and Lieutenant in 1682, in the company of which his brother Samuel was Captain. He was Town Clerk, Selectman, Commissioner or Representative to the General Court.6

     Deacon Johnathan Adams was born circa 1614 at Barton St. David, England.2 He was the son of Henry Adams and Edith Squire.1 Deacon Johnathan Adams married Joan Close on 7 February 1638/39 at Baltonsborough, Somersetshire, England.2 Deacon Johnathan Adams immigrated in 1651 to Medfield, Massachusetts.2 He married Elizabeth Holman circa 1665 at Massachusetts.2 Deacon Johnathan Adams died in 1690 at East Medway (Millis), Massachusetts.1 Jonathan settled in Medfield, Mass. His house was burned by the Indians in 1676, and he rebuilt on what has been known as the Joseph Adams place in East Medway, (now Millis).1

     Thomas Goodrich was born in Wales in 1614; In 1654 he testified in court at Lower Norfolk, Virginia that he was age 40.1 He was the son of John Goodrich. Thomas Goodrich married Anne? probably Sherwood, circa 1642 in Wales.2,3 Thomas and Anne immigrated circa 1652 to Lower Norfolk County, Virginia; For importation of himself, Anne his wife, seven negroes and four other persons to Lower Norfolk County, Thomas received Certificate form the Court of that county June 17, 1652, for 1250 acres.4 He was granted or patented 1134 acrs on the south side of the Rappahannock River in Rappahannock County. He was granted or patented 2000 acres in the same place on on 12 June 1664. In 1676 Thomas Goodrich joined Nathaniel Bacon in "Bacon's Rebellion" and was appointed by Bacon (to) Lt. General in charge of forces along the Rappahannock and Potomac. Sentenced by (a) Berkeley Court Martial to be hanged, but allowed to go free if he "with rope around his neck and on his knees did beg his life form the Governor and Council upon payment of a fine of 50,000 pounds of tobacco."5 He died circa 1679; Will probated 1679.
