     Margaret French "Peggie" Williams was born in 1804 at Culpeper County, Virginia.1 She was the daughter of Isaac Hite Williams and Lucy Coleman Slaughter.1 Margaret French "Peggie" Williams married John Mercer Patton, son of Robert William Patton and Ann Gordon "Mary" Mercer, on 8 January 1824 at Fredericsburg, Viriginia.1 Margaret French "Peggie" Williams died on 14 September 1873 at Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia.2 She Posted at Find-A-Grave: From information provided by Dick Johns "Peggy was mother to nine children: Robert Williams, John Mercer Jr., Isaac Williams, George Smith, Waller Tazewell, Eliza Williams, Hugh Mercer, James French, and William MacFarland. Two, John Mercer Jr. and Hugh Mercer, rest in this plot.

All of her sons served in the Confederate army. Waller Tazewell Patton and George Smith Patton, both Colonels of their respective regiments, were mortally wounded while leading troops in battle. Gen. George S. Patton of WWII fame was her great-grandson.

Her maternal grandfather, Revolutionary War veteran Capt. Phillip Slaughter of Culpeper, died while visiting Richmond and is buried nearby.

In her last years, she was a patient at Western State Hospital in Staunton, one of two state-run mental hospitals".3

     Benjamin Lassiter was born circa 1805 at Jefferson county, Alabama.1 He married Jemima Matilda "Tilly" Murphree, daughter of David Murphree and Jesmina Cornelius, on 1 July 1822 at Jefferson County, Alabama; Their marriage was performed by James Dorsey, Justice of the Peace.1,2 Most researchers report that Benjamin died around 1825 but according to Coker, "Tilly" and Benjamin were divorced before 1826. This makes some sense in that a Benjamin Lassiter appears on the 1830 Census of Blount County (just south of Jefferson) and in 1835 he marries Anna Goodwin in Blount County. They then appear to move to Jefferson county where they appear as "Benjamin and Anna Laster" through 1860.3,4 Benjamin Lassiter appeared on the census of 1830 in Blount County, Alabama; Free White Males: 20-29(1);
