He was educated at the University of Virginia and was selected to read the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1826, the day that Jefferson died. Philip was educated privately and at the academy at Winchester, Virginia; studied at the University of Virginia, 1825-1826; issued a license to practice law in Culpeper and practiced there from 1828 to 1832. He entered the Episcopal Theological Seminary, Alexandria, Virginia, 1833; was ordained deacon in Trinity Church, Staunton, 1834, and priest in St. Paul's Church, Alexandria, 1835. He was rector at Dettingen, Virginia; of Christ Church, Georgetown, District of Columbia, 1836-1840; of the parishes of Meade and Johns, 1840-1843, and St. Paul's Church, Petersburg, Virginia, 1843-1848. On account of ill health he spent 1848-1849 in foreign travel. In 1856 he erected a church on his own land in Culpeper County, and officiated there without remuneration until the Federal Army destroyed it in 1862. He then preached in
his own house, in camps and hospitals. In 1874 he received the degree of D. D. from William and Mary College. The church convention made him historiographer of the diocese of Virginia. He edited "The Virginia Colonizationist" (1850); "The Army and Navy Messenger"; "The Southern Church" (1865); and is the author of: "St. George's Parish History" (1847); "Man and Woman" (1860); "Life of Randolph Fairfax" (1862); "A History of St. Mark's Parish" containing much genealogy about Culpeper County (1877); "Life of Col. Joshua Fry" (1880); "Historic Churches of Virginia" (1882); "Life of Hon. William Green" (1883); "Views from Cedar Mountains" (1884); "The Colonial Church of Virginia" (1885); "Christianity the Key to the Character and Career of Washington" (1886); and an "Address to the Minute-Men of Culpeper" (1887). Toward the end of his life, he served as rector at Emmanuel Church, Rapidan, Va. He died in Culpeper County, Virginia, June 12, 1890. He was buried at Calvary Church, which had been rebuilt in Mitchells, Va., but after it burned, he was re-buried at All Saints, the site of his original church on the eastern slope of Cedar Mountain

They had at least two children.2,3 She then married Preston Ishmael, son of Thomas Ishmael, on 15 January 1831 at Schuyler County, Illinois; Recorded, VR, Schuyler Co Courthouse and reported in the Combined History of Schuyler and Brown Co, Il, W. R. Brink and Co.4,3 Mary Reynolds and Preston Ishmael appeared on the census of 1840 in Brown County, Illinois.5 They appeared on the census of 26 September 1850 in District 24, Grant County, Wisconsin.4 A widowed Mary Ishmael appeared on the census of 16 July 1860 in Beetown, Grant County, Wisconsin.6 She married John Cull on 11 July 1869 at Grant County, Wisconsin.3 Mary Reynolds and John Cull appeared on the census of 12 June 1880 in Beetown, Grant County, Wisconsin.7 Mary Reynolds died on 17 September 1891 at Beetown, Grant County, Wisconsin, at age 82.8

     C(yrus). H(enry). Ober was also known as Cennus H. Ober ?4 He was born in 1809 at Pennsylvania. He was the son of Peter Stauffer Ober ? and Hannah Browers ?3,2 C(yrus). H(enry). Ober married Eilzabeth W. Moore before 1835.3,5 C(yrus). H(enry). Ober appeared on the census of 30 November 1850 in Placerville and its Vicinity., El Dorado County, California.6 He and Eilzabeth W. Moore appeared on the census of 20 July 1860 in Elkhorn, San Joaquin County, California.7 C(yrus). H(enry). Ober died on 17 December 1861 at Stockton, San Joaquin County, California; DIED -- in this city, on Tuesday, 17th inst., Dr. Cyrus H. OBER, in the 53d year of his age. [The funeral of the deceased will take place today from the residence of Wm. H. GEDDES, in this city. The remains will be conveyed hence to Woodbridge, where they will be taken in charge by the Masonic fraternity of that place and interred. The friends of the deceased are invited to attend.] "DEATH FROM ACCIDENTAL POISONING -- Dr. Cyrus H. OBER, who died in this city at 2p.m. yesterday, met he death in the following manner: On Wednesday morning, the 11th, having returned to his office from a professional visit before daylight, he took from his table a bottle which he supposed to contain wine, but which really contained a mixture of corrosive sublimate. The draught which he took contained some 15 grains of the poison, which was quite enough to have caused his death in a few hours; but the stomach pump was applied half an hour afterward and all the contents of the stomach ejected. Still the corrosion had taken fatal hold, and as was predicted by his physician, he died within a week after taking the poison. Deceased was aged 52 years, 6 months, and had been a resident of the county for several years. His remains will be taken from the residence of Wm. H. GEDDES at 10a.m. today and conveyed to Woodbridge, where the Masonic Fraternity will take charge of and bury them. The friends of deceased are respectfully invited to attend the funeral."8 The relationship between Cyrus and Isaac certainly is not conclusive. That they are brother is based mostly on circumstantial evidence including their age, Pennsylvania birth, there migration to Iowa(Des Moines County), El Dorado County, California and their ultimate destination of Stockton, California. Their actual relationship may well require DNA investigations to establish conclusive proof.9

     Richard Luttrell Posted on Find A Grave: "(Encyclopedia of A Biography, Vol 4, edited by Lyon Gardiner Tyler, 1915, pg 404)" " Richard Luttrell, son of Burrell and Hannah (Button) Luttrell, married Elizabeth Bywaters of Culpeper County, Virginia. He was a great fox hunter and always owned a large pack of hounds. His wife died when very young and he being let alone devoted a great portion of his time to hunting. So much was he known for this favorite sport that he became familiarly known as "Dick Luttrell, the fox hunter." It was his custom during the hunting season to rise early and rouse the neighbors to join him in the chase. After the day's sport they would return to his house where he was accustomed to dispense the lavish Southern hospitality of ante bellum times in Virginia.1 He was born on 6 January 1809 at Culpeper County, Virginia.1 He was the son of Burrell Luttrell and Hannah Button.1 Richard Luttrell married Mary/Maria Elizabeth Bywaters, daughter of Edmund Bywaters and Mary Payne, on 15 January 1838 at Culpeper County, Viginia.2,3 Richard Luttrell and Mary/Maria Elizabeth Bywaters appeared on the census of 28 October 1850 in Not Stated, Culpeper County, Virginia.4 Richard Luttrell and Mary/Maria Elizabeth Bywaters appeared on the census of 20 July 1860 in Rural, Culpeper County, Virginia.5 They appeared on the census of 22 July 1870 in Jefferson, Culpeper County, Virginia.6 Richard Luttrell died on 11 February 1874 at Culpeper County, Virginia, at age 65.1

     Cutler Salmon was born on 25 August 1809 at New York.1 He was the son of (?) Salmon. Cutler Salmon married Janet Reynolds, daughter of Richard Reynolds and Martha Proctor, on 19 October 1829 in Grant County, Wisconsin.2 Cutler Salmon appeared on the census of 1840 in Western Division, Grant County, Wisconsin Territory.3,4 He and Janet Reynolds appeared on the census of 24 August 1850 in District No 24., Grant County, Wisconsin.5 In 1853, Cutler Salmon organized to guided a Wagon Train from Wisconsin to San Joaquin County, California; From a History of San Joaquin County, under the entry for Edward Reynolds: Fallowing are excerpts from a letter written by Cutler Salmon and dated at French Camp, Cal., October 30, 1853. "I landed at Hangtowin on September 8. I found no difficulty in crossing the plains". - "We started with twenty men in the company and we stood guard every night and day from the time we left Missouri till we got to Hangtown. Had no trouble with the Indians nor nobody else. My son, James Salmon, stoped at Hangtown".6 He was granted or patented 160 acres of land in San Joaquin County California from the Government for his participation in the Black Hawk War in Wisconsin.7 Janet appeared on the census of 9 June 1860 in Castoria, San Joaquin County, California.8 He and Janet Reynolds appeared on the census of 14 June 1880 in Castoria, San Joaquin County, California; Also in house Ellen Gliddins, Niece.9 Cutler Salmon died on 24 January 1893 at San Joaquin County, California, at age 83.1

The name is hard to read in 1860 U.S. Census.2 He was born on 23 December 1809.1 He married Lucy Elizabeth Spilman, daughter of Conway Spilman and Nancy Fishback Mason, on 4 February 1839 at Culpeper County, Virginia.1,3 Caleb Burnley and Lucy Elizabeth Spilman appeared on the census of 18 October 1850 in Culpeper, Virginia.4 Caleb and Lucy also appeared on the census of 21 July 1860 in Jeffersonton, Culpeper County.5 Caleb Burnley died on 1 April 1863 at Culpeper County, Virginia, at age 53; Buried in the Jeffersonton Baptist Churchard.
