Charles (Carl/Karl) was a gun smith and settled in Herkimer County, New York where worked at the Remington Armory there.4 He married Elizabeth (?) circa 1835 at Germany.1,4 Carl Coester was naturalized on 19 February 1844 at The court of Common Pleas, Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.5 Carl and Elizabeth Coester first appeared on the census of 31 August 1850 in German Flatts, Herkimer County, New York.4 Carl and Elizabeth Coester appeared on the census of 3 August 1870 in Bridgeport, Fairfield County, Connecticut.6 They also appeared on the census of 1 June 1880 in Bridgeport.7 He died after 1 June 1880 at Connecticut; Carl can not be found on the 1900 census.7
