John C Eglington Some reachers suggest that John's father was Mark Eglington who was baptised on 16 Feb 1790 recorded in the Norfolk Parish Registers, 1538-1900 / Reepham with Kersiston/ and died at whitwell, Norfolk 31 Mar 1863. How ever, a record tying Mark and John doesn't seen to be available and John did not seem to have named a son after Mark. A tradition which was certainly prevalent at the time. John was a man of means. U.S. land records indicate that between the beginning of 1845 and the end of 1854 he purchased 12,000 acres of Kendall county land.2 He was born on 22 January 1814 at Norfolk, England.1,3 He married Rebecca Pierson on 25 December 1841 at Kendall County, Illinois.1,4 John C Eglington and Rebecca Pierson appeared on the census of 11 September 1850 in Bristol, Kendall County, Illinois.5 John and Rebecca appeared on the census of 26 July 1860 in Bristol, Kendall County, Illinois.6 They also appeared on the census of 23 June 1870 in Bristol, Kendall County, Illinois.7 John C Eglington and Rebecca Pierson appeared on the census of 15 June 1880 in Bristol, Kendall County, Illinois.8 John C Eglington died on 15 September 1889 at Kane County, Illinois, at age 75.3
