Meador and Martha "Julia" Juliet Steele, on 17 July 1860 at Sni Bar, Jackson County, Missouri.1 Bettie was also included in the State census of her parents on 4 September 1865 at Centropolis, Franklin County, Kansas.3 She was again recorded in the census of her parents on 7 June 1870 at Pottawatomie, Franklin County, Kansas.4 She married David L Welsh on 5 April 1877 at Garnett, Anderson County, Kansas.5 Bettie married a second time to James A Douglas circa 1896 at Kansas.6 A widowed Elizabeth E Welsh appeared, with son J. Richard Lee Turberville Beale and Lucy Maria Brown.1 John Lee "Seldom" Beale witnessed the census of Gen. Richard Lee Turberville Beale and Lucy Maria Brown on 22 July 1870 at Cople, Westmoreland County, Virginia.1 John Lee "Seldom" Beale was included in the census of Gen. Richard Lee Turberville Beale and Lucy Maria Brown in June 1880 at Cople District, Westmoreland County, Virginia.5 John Lee "Seldom" Beale appeared on the census of 20 June 1900 in Cople, Westmoreland County, Virginia.6 He married Ella "Nellie" V(irginia) Davis, daughter of Wilber Fisk Davis and Ella Virginia Sampson, on 23 November 1904 at Westmoreland County, Virginia; They had no children.7,8 John Lee "Seldom" Beale and Ella "Nellie" V(irginia) Davis appeared on the census of 14 January 1920 in Cople, Virginia.7 Nellie and John also appeared on the census of 7 April 1930 in Cople, Virginia.9 John and Nel last appear together on the census of 20 April 1940 in Cople.10 John Lee "Seldom" Beale died on 9 February 1943 at Westmoreland County, Virginia, at age 82; Burial at Hague, Westmoreland County.11 He and Ella "Nellie" V(irginia) Davis appered to have had no children.12

     Henry Burke was born in September 1860 at Indiana.3 He was the son of Henry Burke and Henrietta Charlott Garschmidt.2 Henry was first recorded in the census of his parents, Henry Burke and Henrietta Charlott Garschmidt, on 13 February 1870 at Indianapolis, age 10.4 Henry was also recorded in the second census of his parents, Henry Burke and Henrietta Charlott Garschmidt on 5 June 1870 at Indianapolis.1 Henry Jr. was also listed in the census of his parents on 8 June 1880 at Indianapolis; During this census, Henry reported his Age 54 and that he was born in Hanover. Henretta age 52, also born in Hanover. Emma age 21, and Heinrich age 19, born in IA.5 He married Lillian "Lillie" Guild, daughter of John Guild and Elizabeth Rowe, in 1894 at California?3 Lillie and Henry appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 in Oakland, Alameda County, California.3 Henry seems to have died before 1910 at California.6

     James E E Bassham was also known as James E Bassam.3 He was born on 25 December 1860 at Missouri.4,2 He was the son of Benjamin Bassham and Elizabeth A Ruby.2 James E E Bassham was included in the census of Benjamin Bassham and Elizabeth A Ruby on 3 June 1880 at Sni-A-Bar, Jackson County, Missouri.2 James E E Bassham married Julia Isabelle Steele, daughter of Samuel J. Steele and Mary Catherine Snodgrass, on 10 May 1883 at Jackson County, Missouri.3,1 James E E Bassham died on 20 April 1908 at Warrensburg, Johnson County, Missouri, at age 47; From a note posted at Find-A-Grave: "City Marshall James Ryan and Night Marshall James Basham were both fatally shot and killed in a 1908 shootout at the old Estes Hotel in Warrensburg Missouri(which used to be located to the southern cattycorner of City Hall). Byron Hall, declared insane by the testimony of witnesses and family members, was apparently under the belief that attackers were pursuing him for $500 he had earned herding sheep. Before Hall committed suicide by shooting himself in the heart, he shot Ryan 3 times, and shot Basham with a steel bullet that passed entirely through the Night Marshall’s body. Basham and Ryan are both buried side by side with identical markers, about 100 feet North of the Confederate Memorial, tallest in the cemetery".4
