     William Mason Burnley was born on 22 January 1855 at Virginia.1,3,2 He was the son of Caleb Burnley and Lucy Elizabeth Spilman.1 William Mason Burnley was recorded in the census of Caleb Burnley and Lucy Elizabeth Spilman on 21 July 1860 at Jeffersonton, Culpeper County.4 He was recorded in the census of his sister Nancy Susan Burnley on 19 July 1870 at Jefferson, Culpeper County, Virginia.5 William married Miriam Withers Holtman, daughter of John Augustus Holtzman and Hannah Button Lutrell, in 1896 at Virginia.3 William and Miriam Burnley appeared on the census of 16 June 1900 in Jefferson, Culpeper County.3 They also appeared on the census of 7 May 1910 in Jefferson, Virginia.6 William died on 26 January 1919 at Culpeper County, Vriginia, at age 64; He was buried in the Jeffersonton Baptist Churchard.7

     Luther Kelly Armstrong was born on 9 April 1855 at Woodville, Rappahannock County, Virginia.2 He was the son of William Cleminson Armstrong and Sarah Catherine Slaughter.1 Luther was first recorded in the census of William Cleminson Armstrong and Sarah Catherine Slaughter on 12 January 1860 at Woodville, Rappahannock County, Virginia.3 He was also recorded in his parents household during the Census on 11 July 1870 at Woodville, Rappahannock County, Virginia.4 Luther Kelly Armstrong married Marion Rebecca Brown, daughter of Rev Richard Templeman Brown and Marion Rebecca Wilmer, on 30 December 1882 at St. Johns Church, Washington, D. C..5 Marion Rebecca Brown and Marion Rebecca Brown first appeared together on the census of 11 June 1900 in Wheaton District (Silver Sping), Montgomery County, Maryland.6 Luther was a rail road mail clerk and worked sorting mail on trains that ran between various locations. The fallowing taken from an new paper report indicates that the job was a dangerous one and one that would eventually kill him. THE INIJURED :........"Luther K. Armstrong, fifty one years old, 265 N Street NW, Head and Body injured;" on 19 November 1907 at Washington, D. C..7 "Mail Clerks on trains 210 and 215-----Luther K Armstrong, Silverspring, Md" on 26 November 1907 at Washington, D. C..8 They were recorded on the census of 26 April 1910 in Washington, D. C..9 His occupation eventually lead to his death when he was killed will boarding a moving train on 15 August 1918 at Charlottesville, Virginia, at age 63; His death certificate states that he was "Killed in a railroad accedent while boarding a moving train" ;

Armstrong of 23 U street northeast, a railway postal clerk for more than thirty years in the employ of the Southern Railway Company, was fatally injured Thursday in Charlottesville, Va. He was struck by a shifting engine in the Union station in that city, dying in several hours. The body was brought to the family home here yesterday. Interment will be at Woodville, Va. -
Mr. Armstrong was the son of William Armstrong of Woodville, Va., and is survived by his wife Rebecca Armstrong, daughter of an Episcopak minister of Rappahannock county, and six children, Harry Armstrong, 4th Field Artillery; Mrs. H. E. Burke, Los Gatos, Tex (Cal)., and Misses Eleanor, Marguerite, Janet and Rebecca Armstrong, all of Washington.
Evening star., August 17, 1918, Page 5.2,10,11 Luther Kelly Armstrong was buried on 18 August 1918 at Culpeper, Virginnia; The Certificate of Death, District of Columbia listed age as 62 years, 3 months and 6 days. Occupation: R.R. Postal Clerk. . Filled OUt and Signed by the Undertaker "Wilmor Brown", 332 Sentore Pl. NE.11 The Luther Armstrong family lived in Culpeper Virginia before moving to Silver Spring Maryland in 1896. The Silver Spring home was purchased from his mother-in-law, Marion Wilmer Brown who with her husband R.T. Brown had received the house as a gift from the Montgomery Blair's. The house was built on 1/4 of an acre deeded from the Montgomery Blair estate. They left Silver Spring for Washington D.C. in 1907. Luther was a Postal Clerk for most of his life and although he never had a music lesson, he enjoyed playing the "fiddle" and could make music on a variety of musical instruments.12

That this George smith is in actually the Alvey Smith that married Mary McCamish is based on both State and Federal census data. For instance, the 1900 U.S. census list George C. and Mary Oscar and Oliver Smith in Cassville, Grant County. The 1905 Wisconsin State lists Alvey, Mary, Oscar and Oliver Smith in Beetown, Grant County, Wiscons. Certainly the same Family. He is listed as George A Smith on the 1875 Wisconsin State Census. The 1880 U.S. Census list them as Geo. A. and Mary A. and daughter Alvaretta Smith. On the 1910 U.S. Census he is "Al" Smith.10

     Millard Button Armstrong was born on 29 June 1855 at Culpeper County, Virginia.1 He was the son of Thomas Conway Armstrong and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Button.1 Millard Button Armstrong was included in the census of his parents, Thomas Conway Armstrong and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Button, on 18 July 1860 at Culpeper County.3 He was also recorded in the census of his parents on 12 July 1870 at Jefferson Township, Culpeper County, Virginia; W. B. Nulls census clerk.4 Millard Button Armstrong married Ella Blanche Parr, daughter of Weedon Asbury Parr and Milissa Dearing, in January 1878 at Culpeper County.1 Millard Button Armstrong and Ella Blanche Parr appeared on the census of 21 June 1880 in Jeffersonton, Culpeper County, Virginia.5 Millard and Ella also appeared on the census of 22 June 1900 in Jefferson, Culpeper County.6 They appeared on the census of 18 May 1910 in Jefferson.7 Millard included on the census of 22 January 1920 in Jefferson.8 He was recorded in the census of his son Kenneth Parr Armstrong on 30 April 1930 at Jefferson.9 Millard died on 9 June 1930 at Virginia at age 74.10,11
