     Rev. William Squire was born circa 1520.¹ He "William Squire was rector of Charlton Mackrell, Somersetshire, as early as 1545, as appears by the will of Rev. George Levermore, vicar of Charlton Adam, dated 21 Sept. 1545, proved 11 Dec. 1545,which left certain goods to 'William Squyre, parson of Charleton Macarell.' (Wells Probate Registry,vol.12,p.104.) During the reign of 'Blody Mary' (1553-1558) a list was made of all the married clergy in England, and they were ordered to divorce their wives to conform to the Roman Catholic law of clerical celibacy. At the annual eccleasiastical visitation of Charlton Mackress in 1554, the church wardens presented that 'William Squyer was marryed and doth mynister ageyne, not separated.'" on 11 September 1545.² He died circa 1567 at Charlton Mackrell, Somersetshire, England; "On 15 Sept. 1567, John Sprynt was inducted to the rectory of Charlton Mackrell, 'made vacant by the death of the last incumbent.³'"

Barton David 8 Jan. 1596/7. Henry Adams.      Henry Squire was born circa 1563 at Charlton Mackrell, Sumersetshire, England.² He was the son of Rev. William Squire. By his own deposition in 1580, Henry Squire was "termed a husbandman of Moorlinch, aged about sixteen years. Probably he was an apprentice to some yeoman in Moorlich, a parish about seven miles from his birthplace."² Henry Squire Henry returned to Charlton Mackrell "where he had children baptized from 1587 to 1599, and probably continued there until about 1613 when he moved into the adjacent parish of Kingweston. He was termed 'Henry Squire late of Kinweston neere Somerton in Somersetshire,' 25 Dec. 1649." in 1587.³

     "At 'Sandy Point,' Charles City Co., Va., once the splendid estate of the Lightfoot family, is a tomb with this inscription: Philip Lightfoot, Son of John Lightfoot, Esq. Barrister at Law, son of John Lightfoot, Minister of Stoke Bruain in Northamptonshire. The tomb is decorated with the Lightfoot arms, impaling Corbin. - The tomb of the first Philip Lightfoot is, however, wrong in stating that John Lightfoot, the father of the Virginia immigrant, was son of "John Lightfoot, minister of Stoke Bruain. In Berry's History of Northamptonshire, a list of ministers of the parish is given, and the name Richard Lightfoot appears in proper order. There was no other minister of Stoke Bruerne of the name Lightfoot". How ever, this author believes the inscription to be correct and that the Rev. Richard Lightfoot was the father of the second John.¹ "According to Berry", there is a brass tablet in the Church at Stoke Bruain to the memory of Richard Lightfoot. Engraved on it is the figure of a kneeling priest, before an altar, the Lightfoot arms, and the fallowing inscription (English translation of Latin): This tomb was placed here to the memory of Richard Lightfoot, minister of the gospel and rector of this Church for twenty-four years, by J. L., his son and Heir. Death quickly and unexpectedly overtook him while flock by word and deed. Thus he taught others to live and himself to die. He died in the year of our Lord 1625, age 63 years.² Rev. Richard Lightfoot was born in 1563 at Rappahannock County, Virginia.³ He married Jane Jones, daughter of Thomas (?) Jones, circa 1587.^1,4 On on 27 April 1601 Rev. Richard Lightfoot was installed as minister of Stoke Bruerne of the parish in Stoke Bruerne.⁵ He died an was buried on 28 November 1625 in Stoke Bruerne.¹
