John Lightfoot was born in Rappahannock County, Virginia.2 John Lightfoot was the son of John Lightfoot ? John immigrated circa 1670 to Gloucester County, Virginia.3 On 10 June 1670 John recieved the "King's grant as auditor general of Virginia in place of Thomas Stegge, lately deceased. But on May 25, 1671, the commission was suspended till the King's pleasure was heard, the reversionary right to the office having been long since granted to Edward Digges, Esq., by comicon from the power of this country. On December 17, 1671, the suspension was confirmed by the King's order on account of the prior right of Digges."4 John Lightfoot married Anne Goodrich, daughter of Thomas Goodrich and Anne Sherwood ?, before 1681.5 John Lightfoot moved before 1687 to New Kent County.6 In 1692 John Lightfoot became collector for the Counties between the York and James Rivers and Commander-in-chief of King and Queen County.7 He was "appointed to the Council in 1695, and held office until his death."8 He died on 28 May 1707 at King and Queen County, Virginia.9 The origin of John Lightfoot can be traced through the tomb of Philip Lightfoot (his brother) at "Sandy Point," Charles City Co., Va., This tomb clearly indicates that Philip and his brother John descended from the Lightfoot family of Bruain in Northamptonshire, England. The inscription on the tomb reads "Philip Lightfoot, Son of John Lightfoot, Esq. Barrister at Law, Son of John Lightfoot, Minister of Stoke, Bruain in Northamptonshire". While John Lightfoot of Stoke was not minister of Stoke, John Lightfoot of Stokes father Richard was.10

Mary Kinney1,2

F
Relationship3rd great-grandmother of Juliane Marion Heck
Last Edited27 Nov 2016
Mary Kinney was born at Tipperary, Ireland; I'm guessing about Tipperary. Also the area may be Ballingarry but I don't know if it is the one in north Tipp. or the one by Cashel.3 She married John Farrell, son of William Farrell and Judy Croke. Mary Kinney witnessed the note of Edward Patrick Farrell and Patrick Farrell; and their Irish ancestry is based on the fallowing: 1) Edward Patrick alway's said that he was born in the Parish of Balingarry, in County Tipperary, Ireland; 2) His wife, Eliza Laura was said to tease him about the fact that his mother was a Kenny (supposedly an "Orange" family name; 3) According to some family lore, when he first came to the States, he lived with a relative perhaps in Minnesota or Wisconsin. 4); In a reply query by Joane Pratt Striebich on the ballingarry.freeforum.org in 2012 she received the fallowing: "I have read you message and would like to let you know that my great grandfather was a brother of Edward Farrell. The family lived in Gortfree and there were nine children in the family. one name I am unsure of but the others were called: William, Elizabeth, John, Brigid, Mary, Patrick and my G Grandfather Michael. Their father's name was John Farrell and he married to Mary Kenny. John's father's name was William and his mother's name was Judy Croke. William's father's name was John Farrell(1751-1811) and his mother's name was Mary Egan(1761 - 1829). John's father's name was patrick and he was born in 1721 and died in 1782"; 6) A Patrick Farrell, of the correct age to have been a brother of Ed's father, immagrated to the States from Tipperary Ireland circa 1848. He married a "Kate" either in Ireland or the States circa 1848. That Patick Farrell settled in and raised a family in Rock County, Wisconsin; 7) A desicendant of that Patrick Farrell has a reasonably close DNA (shared 39cm across 2 DNA segmants) match to at least 2 decendants of Edward Patrick Farrell. 8) There appears to be no other family connection between the descendants of the Wisconsin Patrick Farrell and those of Edward Patrick Farrell. Ergo, Patrick and Edward are prabably bothe from the Farrell family that was living in the Ballingary Parish of Tippararry Ireland during the mid 19th century. Since the DNA match indicates that the relationship at least a 4th generation relationship, it seems that while there may be a generatiional Edward Patrick and Patrick were at least 1rst cousins.4,2

John Catlett Jr Note: "Col. John Catlett was justice of the peace (1692), burgess (1693-1702), coroner (1700), president of court, and sheriff (1705) for Essex County. He patented lands extensively to Spotsylvania County and elsewhere. He gave power of attorney to John Mumford (June 16, 1702) of London, to sell all my lands at Sittingbourne, in Kent County, England, and at Radwischeim, which he inherited from his father. His will, dated 1724, is given below: (Stubbs, pp. 17-18)"To son Thos., lands on south side of Cedar Creek. "To dau. Margaret, dwelling plantation. "To dau.-in-law Alice Catlett, land and four negroes. "To son John, household furniture and some stock. "To granddau. Martha Taliaferro, some negroes, with son John as her trustee. "To dau, Margaret, household and kitchen furniture and some land. "To son, Thomas, all of my land purchased by me and Rowland Thornton, of Micajah, and Richd. Perry, being part of mortgage from Chas. Smith, Micajah Perry, Thos. Lane and Richd. Perry. "To son, Thomas, upper part of said purchased land. "To son Thomas, 600 acres in Spotsylvania County and 400 acres, part of same tract that I gave to my grandson Catlett Conway. "To son, John, a negro, my silver tankard and silver spoons, silver seal and old damask table cloth and napkins. "To son Thomas, my clock. "Rest of personal estate, money, tobacco, cattle, hogs, horses, sheep and whatever else I have not given away, to be divided equally among my said five children, John, Thomas, Mary, Elizabeth and Rebecca. Executors, sons John and Thos." The will was dated 18 November 1724, and witnessed by John Elliott, John Evars and John Catlett, and also gave 1800 acres in freshes of Rappahannock river, in the county of Essex. (Stubbs, p. 19) "...was the only son of Col. John Catlett and his wife, Elizabeth Underwood, to leave male isue. It is thought that this John married twice and that Lawrence, and perhaps Elizabeth, were by his first wife, who it is believed, was a daughter of Major Lawrence Smith, of Bacon's Rebellion. There are deeds recorded in Spotsylvania County to Jno. Catlett, Jr., and Richd. Buckner, in 1722, from Augustine Smith, the son of Major Lawrence [Smith]. "Jno. certainly married Elizabeth Gaines, daughter of Dan'l Gaines, who is believed to have married Miss Rowzie, half-sister of Col. Jno. Catlett the imgt., since Capt. Dan'l Gaines, in his will (Essex County), Aug. 18, 1682, mentions wife 'Margaret,' and 'orphans of Col. Jno. Catlett to be paid out of the negroes who belong to his estate,' and calls Jno. Catlett 'his kinsman' and directs that 'children of Col. Jno. Catlett to remain with my wife until they come of age or until she marries.' 'Again, in 1671, Mrs. Elizabeth Catlett, widow of Col. Jno., gave power of attorney to Mr. Dan'l Gaines, and also later made him 'overseer of her will and to have main charge of the children (1673). After a suit in May court, 1673, between Rev. Amory Butler (who married the widow of Col. John Catlett) and Capt. Thos. Hawkins, who married the sister of Mrs. Jno. Catlett, Dan'l Gaines took charge of the Catlett children and Rev. Butler of the estate. (All from Essex records)." (Stubbs, p. 17) "Itemized Inventory of the Estate of John Catlett, deceased, returned to Court and recorded 17 August 1725.....Items not evaluated...Includes the names of 20 slaves of whom 13 were males...includes the name of 'Sue' who was bequeathed to his granddaughter, Martha Taliaferro. The inventory is signed by John Catlett and Thomas Catlett." (Avant, p. 172) NOTE: This appears to have come from 'Essex County, Virginia, Wills, Bonds, Inv. #4 (1722-1730) Part 1, pp. 103-104. 'Virginia Officers in 1699' - (Taken from the MS records of the Virginia Council December 9, 1698 - May 20, 1700 and now deposited in the Congressional Library)...'Ralph Wormley, Colonel and Commander in Chief...'William Moseley, Lieutenant-Colonel...'John Catlett, Major' (Avant, pp.".2 He was born.3 He was the son of John Catlett and Elizabeth Underwood.1 John Catlett Jr married Mary Gaines, daughter of Daniel Gaines and Margaret Bernard ?, after 1682 at Rappahannock County, Virginia.4 John Catlett Jr died in 1724 at Essex County, Virginia.1
