Steele and Rose Lila Elstine.¹ Glenn William Steele died on 3 March 2015 at California at age 62; From an obituary posted at Find-A-Grave: "Glenn Steele died from injuries sustained from a train collision that took place on February 24, 2015, that caused such severe injuries that later proved fatal. Steele, who had worked for the railroad for 44 years and was No. 1 on Amtrak's seniority list, was supervising a 31 year old student engineer the day of the collision. After a man drove his truck onto the tracks and left it there, Steele did all that he could to avoid a more horrendous situation, so instead of leaving his post up front to save himself, "Steele stayed in front and apparently laid on the brakes much longer to try to protect the 50 passengers on board," as was quoted by Darren Kettle, executive director of the Ventura County Transportation Commission in a press conference. Glenn Steele was a hero, and should be remembered as one"; "Steele was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Division 20 in Los Angeles since 1973.
