     Owen F. "Hoot" Hill was born on 20 December 1920 at Rodon, Nova Scotia; The 1930 U.S. Census listed his birth place as Maine.2,3,4 He was the son of Andrew Hill and Hannah West Walker.2 Owen F. "Hoot" Hill married Ruth M Walker, daughter of Ralph Morrell Walker and Gladys Morrell, on 20 February 1943 at Maine.1 Owen F. "Hoot" Hill died on 16 June 2007 at York County, Maine, at age 86; Dr. Owen "Hoot" Hill Hoot Hill, 86, passed away surrounded by his family at H. D. Goodall Hospital on June 16, 2007. He was born in Rawdon, Nova Scotia and grew up in Buxton. He graduated from Buxton High School in 1938, and from Gorham Teachers College in 1942. He married his college sweetheart, Ruth Morrell Walker, days before he left Maine to fight in WWII. He graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1943. He served in Seattle, New York City and on the U.S.S. Abilene. In 1951 he was awarded a doctorate by Columbia University. He worked as a School Business Official, first in New Britain, Conn., then Gary, Ind., and finally in Manhasset, N.Y. While in New York he gained state-wide recognition as a leader in his field. He was elected President of the New York State Association of School Business Officials, and served as a Lecturer at St. John's University in Queens. The auditorium in the Shelter Rock School in Manhasset is named for him. In 1981 he retired to his wife's family farm in North Berwick. He wintered in Port Charlotte, Fla. near many members of his family. He was extremely grateful for his family, friends, and farm. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Walker Hill; daughter, Linda Hill O'Bannon and son-in-law, Kenneth L. O'Bannon; son, Hugh Hill and daughter-in-law, Nancy Mabon Hill; grandson, Owen Thomas Hill; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Johnson Hill, Marion Walker Burke, and Norma Walker Allen; many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Hannah and Andrew Hill; his brothers, Norman S. Hill, Robert H. Hill and Warren G. Hill; his brother-in-law, Lloyd E. Walker, his former brother-in-law, Harry Burke; and his sisters-in-law, Arlene Rowe Hill and Catherine Lewis Hill. A funeral service was held on Saturday at the First Congregational Church of North Berwick. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of North Berwick, PO Box 565, North Berwick, ME 03906.2,5

     Geneveive McLeod was born in 1922 at California.1 She was the daughter of David Milton McLeod and Villa Plummer.1 Geneveive McLeod witnessed the census of Villa Plummer on 14 April 1930 at Auburn, Placer County, California.1 Geneveive McLeod died on 14 January 2005 at Grass Valley, California; enevieve Sarah Howcroft, 83, of Grass Valley, died Fraday, Jan. 14, at a local care facility. In accordance with her wishes no services will be conducted. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley. Mrs. Howcroft was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Auburn, to David Milton and Vlla Irene (Plummer) McLeod. She was raised and attended school in Auburn, graduationg from Auburn High School in 1940. She worked in Auburn for PG&E as a clerk. She married John "Jack" Henry Howcroft on April 12, 1943, in Poenix. The lived in Florida and later in California and Nevada. In 1982 the retired to Nevada County. She was a seamstress and also did needlepoint and knitting. Se is survived by her husband of 61 years, John "Jack" Henry Howcroft of Grass Valley, daughter and son-in-law, Genene and Russell Youngs of Edmond, Okla; grandson and grandaughter-in-law, Michael Scott and Heather Renee Youngs of London, Ontario, great-grandchildren Michaela Lynn and Cayden Thomas Youngs. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tiffany Lynn Youngs in 1986; and brother, Amos McLeod. Arrangments are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.2
