     Elinor Mabel Cole was born on 4 July 1912 at California.1,2 She was the daughter of Albert Edward Cole and Mabel Fortuna Wiltse.1 Elinor Mabel Cole was included in the census of Albert Edward Cole and Mabel Fortuna Wiltse on 24 January 1920 at Mountain, El Dorado County, California; This census included Frank(47) and George Cole (37), listed as partners.3 Elinor Mabel Cole was included in the census of Albert Edward Cole and Mabel Fortuna Wiltse on 22 April 1930 at Berkeley, Alameda County, California.4 Elinor Mabel Cole Born July 4, 1912 at the old Placerville Sanitorium, she spent her
early life at Cole's Station near Grizzly Flats, with parents, uncles and
grandparents. All Elinor's forebears were California and EI Dorado
County pioneers: Cole and Christian, Wiltse and Carpenter, frequent
names in the history of Placerville and EI Dorado County. Both
great·grandfathers were justices of the peace, one in Diamond Springs,
one near Cole's Station. Cole-Cbristtan descendants of Elinor's
generation came to include Lyon, Veerkamp, Fowler, Chappell.
Education .. as student, teacher and mentor .. was the golden
thread all through her life. Her education began at home with her
mother as teacher. Being an only child with no near neighbor children,
she became an avid and accomplished reader by age 3, graduating (rom
Willow Elementary School at age 9, El Dorado High School at 13 and
U.c. Berkeley with a degree in political science at 17 .. at that time, the
youngest person ever to receive a degree (rom Cal Berkeley. At age 14
she was named winner of the statewide American Legion scholarship
essay contest. While at Berkeley, she created a botany eJnora of El Dorado County, which Included many plants never before
collected or identified in this area; her display was of such note that it
was hung in the California State Capitol and remained there for several.5
She married Omer McGee on 27 November 1933 at Reno, Washoe County, Nevada.5,6 Elinor Mabel Cole and Omer McGee appeared on the census of 15 April 1940 in Placerville, El Dorado County, California.7 Elinor Mabel Cole died on 28 May 1997 at El Dorado County, California, at age 84.1,8 She Elinor Cole married Orner McGee in November 1933. Their
marriage lasted until her passing, 63·1/2 years and five children later.
Together they built a log cabin (still standing) on the banks of Steely
Creek near the site of the original Cole homestead. Moving to Placerville
when their first child was 5 months old, they kept the land, later
becoming piom!ers themselves in Choose & Cut Christmas Tree sales (rom
the McGee Christmas Tree Fann.5

After three years teaching in one-room schools near Oak Grove and Levasy, she began teaching in Independence in 1935, where she continued teaching for 42 years, retiring in 1977. During that time, she taught kindergarten through third grade, and was often responsible for special needs children. She served at Southwest, Nolan, Columbian, Bryant, John W. Luff and Glendale schools. During this time, she continued her own education at the University of Missouri and at Columbia University in New York City, from which she received her bachelorÕs degree.      Edward "Eddie" Marcus Patrick Farrell was born on 12 August 1912 at Fort Bidwell, Modoc County, California.2 He was the son of Edward Patrick Farrell and Eliza Laura "Gram" Steele. Eddie was one of six children listed during the census of his parents, Edward Patrick Farrell and Eliza Laura "Gram" Steele, on 17 January 1920 at Auburn, California.3 Eddie was counted in the household during the census of his mother on 11 April 1930 at Auburn, Placer County, California.4 He was also included in the census of his mother on 10 April 1940 at Placerville, El Dorado County, California.5 On 7 December 1941 Eddie or "Smokey" was working as a civilian in Pearl Harbor, Hawii where he aided in the rescue of Cilvian and Naval personel.6 After returing to the mainland he enlisted and was assigned to the Army Engineers on 7 October 1943 at Sacramento, California, He later served in combat in the Pacific Theater.7 Eddie died on 19 April 1964 at Reno, Nevada, at age 51. He was buried at Truckee, Nevada County, California. Eddie Artist and Miner who likely suffered from PTSD as a result of his experiences during WWII, dieing far to young.1

     Charlotte Ruth Steele was born on 8 May 1913 at Oklahoma.3 She was the daughter of Clarence Rufus Steele and Harriet Newell White.1 Charlotte Ruth Steele was included in the census of Clarence Rufus Steele on 26 January 1920 at Kingfisher, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma.4 Charlotte Ruth Steele was included in the census of Clarence Rufus Steele between 17 April 1930 and 19 April 1930 at Kingfisher, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma.1 Charlotte Ruth Steele married Don Marion Glass, son of Joshua Christian Glass and Maude Irene Mead, circa 1934 at Oklahoma.5,6 Charlotte Ruth Steele and Don Marion Glass appeared on the census of 13 April 1940 in Jacksboro, Jack County, Texas.6 Charlotte Ruth Steele married (?)      Leonard E. Pratt was born on 13 May 1913 at Rosebud County, Montana.1,2,3 He was the son of Melvin Elroy "Jack" Pratt and Crystal/Christen/Chrise Hazel Slager.1 Leonard E. Pratt witnessed the census of Melvin Elroy "Jack" Pratt and Crystal/Christen/Chrise Hazel Slager on 3 May 1920 at School District 9, Rosebud County, Montana.1 Leonard E. Pratt was included in the census of Melvin Elroy "Jack" Pratt on 9 April 1930 at Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho; On the 1930 U.S. Census, Melvins "Jack'" Pratt's marital status was listed as D(ivorced)? He listed his father (Uriah) as from England and mother (Arminda) from Ohio.4 Leonard E. Pratt was included in the census of Melvin Elroy "Jack" Pratt on 18 April 1940 at Brighton, Sacramento County, California.5 Leonard was included on a U.S. World War II Army Enlistement Reocrd on 3 March 1941 at Sacramento, California. He died in 1945 while serving in the Pacific Theater.6 On 12 March 1945 Leonard was killed during combat in Central Luzon, Philippines, at age 31; Posted at Find-A-Grave "funeral article in the Sacramento Bee (Feb. 9, 1949), Sgt. Pratt was killed in action. He had grown up in Montana and Idaho, coming to California around 1928 to work for a meat packing company. He entered the US Army's quartermaster corps unit in 1941 after first serving in the National Guard. Survived by his parents Melvin and Crystal; sisters Evelyn, Violet and Irene; and brother Melvin".2,7 Leonard E. Pratt was buried on 15 February 1949 at Golden Gate National Cemetery, 1300 Sneath Lane, San Bruno, California; His marker provides the fallowing: 1 Sgt Ord Dept World War II.2
