Jarvis Jones was born in Guilford county, North Carolina, January 19, 1821. His parents moved to Henry county, Indiana in 1829, where he grew to manhood. He removed to Kansas with wife and four sons in 1878, and came to this city to reside two years ago. He was a sincere christian gentleman, an upright citizen and respected by all our people. He attended the revival service at the opera house last Sunday night in his usual health and retired to his room where he slept. In the morning he was found dead in bed, having died after 1 o’clock., as one of his sons left him at that hour to go on the railroad. He died peacefully, as no struggle was evident, the covers not being disturbed.

Four of the six sons living were present. D.W.Jones and wife, Medford, J.W.Jones, wife and daughter, Kansas City, J.O.Jones, of Caldwell.
