Vol. Inf., Aug. 1864, and served until end of war; after war engaged as a stockraiser dealer in Nodaway Co., Mo., where still has two stock farms. Since 1875 has made his home in Chicago, pres. He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Linda Breeden. His second wife, who is living, was Miss Nannie Meadows. He leaves four sons- William and Ward of Altoona, PA, Wesley and Eugene at home; three daughters, Mrs. Leda Lam, of Elkton, Mrs. Blanche Haney and Miss Violet Shifflett at home. For 30 years, Mr. Shifflett has been a member of the United Brethren Church.1,3

"Mattie" Dickerson, on 1 October 1850 at Sni A Bar, Jackson County, Missouri.3 Tura was recorded durningthe census of Abraham Crockett Pallette and Martha B.      Levi Sawyer Tower was born on 3 July 1849 at Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina.2 He was the son of Levi Tower and Mary A. McLauchlin. Levi Sawyer Tower was listed in the census of Archibald McLauchlin and Sarah Ann Blocker on 25 July 1850 at Fayetteville, age 11/12; Also included were Sarah's siter Mary, her husband Levi Tower, and their son Levi.3 Levi Sawyer Tower was listed in the census of Rev. Charles Pinckney Jones and Sarah Ann McLauchlin on 7 June 1860 at Neuse River, Craven County, North Carolina.4 Levi appeared on the census of 17 June 1880 in Americus, Georgia; Levi S. Tower, single, working as a clerk. Born in North Carolina, father born in Michigan, mother in North Carolina.5 Levi Sawyer Tower married Mary Frances "Mamie" Huling, daughter of Martha (?), on 28 February 1881 at Sumter County, Gerogia; listed as L.S. Tower and Mamie Huling.6,7 Levi and Mary appeared on the census of 12 June 1900 in Americus, Sumter County.8 They appeared on the census of 15 April 1910 in Americus.9 Levi Sawyer Tower was listed in the census of Robert Gibson Christian and Hazel Tower on 2 January 1920 at Americus, Sumter County, Georgia.6 Levi Sawyer Tower was listed in the census of his son-in-law and daughter, Robert and Hazel Christian on 2 April 1930 at Americus, Sumter County.10 He died on 5 October 1938 at Madison, Morgan County, Georgia, at age 89.11,1
