     Charles Victor Burke was born on 12 March 1882 at Kent, King County, Washington.1,2 He was the son of Herman Daniel Burke and Sarah Eugenia Jones.1 He was in the household during the territorial census of Herman Daniel Burke in April 1885 at Titusville, King County, Washington Territory.3 He was also in the household during the census of Herman Daniel Burke on 30 July 1887 at at Kent, King County, Washington Territory; Recorded by Luke McRedward.4 Vic was in the household during the census of his mother and her second husband Alfred Baker in 1892 at Kent, King County, Washington.5 Charles Victor Burke is listed in the widows pension declaration of Sarah Eugenia Jones on 18 December 1893; In a declaration for pension of children under sixteen years of age, Sarah provided proof of the names of her and Herman Burke's children and of Herman's date of death. In that declaration, she states that "Eugenia S. Baker, resident of Kent, age 48 years is the legal guardian of Eugene Burke, Willie Burke, Victor Burke, James Burke, and Mabel Burke, that they are the legitimate children of Herman Burke who Enlisted under the name of Herman Burke at Indianapolis on ----- Certif No 265092 in the war of the Rebellion who died(3) Sept 20, 1888".6 He witnessed the census of his mother on 1 June 1900 at Meeker Precinct, King County, Washington; Record very difficult to read...7 Charles Victor Burke, then a graduate student at Stanford University, Co-authored the "Fishes From Bering And Kamchatka" with world famous icthyologist Dr. Charles Henry Gilbert in 1912.8 He married Georgina "Aunt Georgie" Breckenridge Spooner, daughter of Alden Ernst Spooner and Fannie L. Pinney, in 1912 or 1913.8 He was recorded on a World War I Draft Registration Card, on 12 September 1918 at Santa Clara County, California; "Vic's" WWI Draft Regstration Card lists him as a Professor at Stanford University. His wife was Georgina Spooner Burke and they lived at 603 Litton in Palo Alto.2 "Vic" was residing in the household during census of his mother on 17 January 1920 at Palo Alto.9 Vic and Georgie appeared on the census of 16 April 1930 in Pullman, Whitman County, Washington.10 "Vic" was selected editor of bacteriological terms for the 1932 edition of Webster's International Dictionary in 1932.11 Charles Victor Burke obtained his BS and Ph.D. degrees at Stanford University. At Stanford, he studied Icthyology and co-authoring with C.H. Gilbert at least one book "Fishes from the Bering Sea and Kamchatka (1912). He obtained the equivalent of a second Ph.D. at Columbia University. The latter degree involved bacteriology and immunology under Hans Zinsser, a noted pioneer in bacteriogist. Vic, as he was known in the family, briefly was an Assistant Professor of Bacteriology at Stanford Medical School and utimately became Chairman of the Department of Bacteriology at Washington State University at Pullman untill his retirment.11 They also appeared on the census of 5 April 1940 in Pullman; This census included a nephew, Graham McConnell age 25 born in Minnisota.12 "Voctpr Burke was recorded on a World War II Draft Registration Card, 1942 at Pullman, Whitman County, Washington.13 Uncle "Vic" died on 7 October 1958 at San Jose, Santa Clara County, California, at age 76.14

     Sarah "Sadie" Armstrong was born on 28 July 1882 at Rappahannock County, Virginia.1,2 She was the daughter of Samuel Ringgold Armstrong and Ella Brereton Miller. Sadie was included in the census of her parents, Samuel Ringgold Armstrong and Ella Brereton Miller, on 14 June 1900 at Stonewall, Rappahannock County, Virginia.1 Sarah "Sadie" Armstrong married George H. Tata Greer, son of George H. T. Greer and Mattie E. (?), circa 1910 at Virginia.3 Esd was also recorded in the census of Parents on 26 May 1910 at Stonewall, Virginia.4 Sarah "Sadie" Armstrong and George H.
